Describe an interesting trend you see emerging in your profession and how you think it will affect the field:

As companies begin to incorporate HR analytics into workforce planning and business decisions, the HR profession is seeing a myriad of new analytical platforms and tools to process “big data.” However, only a limited number of vendors currently offer a full-suite that transforms data points into actionable insights. As HRIS systems become more robust, HR professionals will have access to more data points to inform recommendations, which will have a major impact in our field as we rely more on data to drive workforce decisions.

What has been your most unique learning experience and why?

Mediation training by the State Attorney General’s Office, Civil Rights Division, in Tucson, Arizona in 2011 was a fantastic learning experience. This 40-hour intensive training program provided an skill-set to effectively analyze a situation, read both parties, engage in proper dialogue, and resolve issues. It used role-playing and scenario based learning which was very engaging and forced me out of my comfort zone. I developed a facilitative approach to problem-solving that I still use to this day.
