What is an emerging trend in your field?
A growing trend in the higher education field is the ability to earn a degree online. However, there are only a few online programs that offer extracurricular activities to their students. As the associate director of chapter development at The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS), I have had the privilege of developing student engagement programs and activities for online students through my current employer. One initiative is “Clean Up the Park Saturdays,” which is a community service activity put on by online chapters of NSCS on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
What has been your most unique learning experience?
My time at Georgetown as a PR/CC graduate student has been my most unique learning experience thus far. Prior to starting the program in 2013, I didn’t have much experience working in groups, nor thinking as critically and creatively as I do now. Thanks to my experience at Georgetown, I have been able to do communications work for widespread companies/organizations such as Google, BET Networks, TV One, YouTube, and The Recording Academy (GRAMMY’s). For opportunities such as these, I will always be grateful for this unique learning experience.
