Journalism Community

A Dynamic and Engaged Community

Georgetown Journalism students are part of a community of passionate journalism and media professionals who are personally invested in one another’s success. Through events, student committees, and coursework, students have multiple opportunities to be engaged with dynamic networks.

Georgetown University Society of Professional Journalists Chapter

All Journalism students are encouraged to become members of the Georgetown University Society for Professional Journalists chapter, which was founded by one of the program’s alumni. The group provides members with leadership opportunities, helps them network and build connections with other journalists, and offers additional training and educational resources. Georgetown’s SPJ chapter holds multiple events every year, including an annual panel discussion on Sunshine Week in March.

Students interested in joining the chapter should contact the chapter advisor.

Journalism Ambassador Program

The Journalism Ambassador Program—comprised of current students and alumni—fosters engagement by mentoring new students. As selected representatives who have demonstrated academic achievement, ambassadors have the opportunity to give back to the program and fortify the next generation of Hoyas while expanding both their Georgetown network and their professional network.
