Professional Organizations

Georgetown’s Real Estate program maintains ongoing relationships and partnerships with various organizations in and around the Washington, D.C. metro area. Touting a commitment to diversity within the industry, the program strives to maintain an inclusive portfolio of partners that represent a variety of specialties and disciplines.

The program has also forged important connections with industry organizations to assist students in their efforts to obtain professional certifications. Additionally, the program is currently in discussion with Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) to become a partner institution. 


District of Columbia Building Industry Association

The District of Columbia Building Industry Association (DCBIA) represents the commercial and residential real estate industries in the nation’s capital, with a membership of nearly 500 companies and organizations comprising several thousand real estate professionals including developers, general contractors, architects, engineers, lenders, attorneys, brokers, and representatives from utilities and community development organizations.


Certified Commercial Investment Member

The CCIM Institute is an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors which confers the CCIM designation to commercial real estate professionals who have extensive training and industry experience and complete a rigorous study program. Georgetown University Real Estate is a CCIM Institute Member. Graduates of the master’s in Real Estate program are eligible to apply for the CCIM designation by taking only one of the four courses normally required.


Urban Land Institute (ULI) Young Leaders Group

The Urban Land Institute provides leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide. Students may join the ULI Young Leaders Group of the Washington, D.C. District Council to gain access to special programs and networking opportunities. Georgetown hosts many of these events at the centrally-located downtown SCS campus.

The International Real Estate Federation  

International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) is a real estate association that draws members working in international real estate from countries all over the world. Georgetown is a partner university in FIABCI and our faculty includes current and former FIABCI executives and board members.


African American Real Estate Professionals of Washington, D.C. 

For almost two decades, African American Real Estate Professionals DC Chapter (AAREP DC) has been a driving force in providing a supportive network for African Americans working in the commercial real estate industry. The association was founded by graduates of Georgetown’s Real Estate program.


NAIOP Maryland/DC

NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, is the leading organization for developers, owners, and related professionals in office, industrial, retail, and mixed-use real estate. NAIOP Maryland/DC sponsors the annual Capital Challenge Cup, a development competition among teams from the area’s top real estate programs.


Corporate Real Estate Network (CoreNet)

CoreNet Global is the premier association for corporate real estate professionals. CoreNet serves members from leading multinational companies from the Fortune and Global 1000.


Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW)

CREW is a membership organization founded in 1979 to promote professional opportunities and business relationships for women in the commercial real estate industry.


Commercial Real Estate Brokers Association (CREBA)

CREBA is a regional trade association dedicated to serving commercial real estate interests throughout the District of Columbia, Suburban Maryland, and Northern Virginia. Georgetown University is the exclusive education partner for CREBA.


Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)

RICS promotes and enforces the highest professional qualifications and standards in the development and management of land, real estate, construction, and infrastructure.  Georgetown has applied to become an accredited university that would allow graduates to expedite their RICS applications after graduation.
