Master of Professional Studies in Project Management

Industry & Career Outlook

As organizations are becoming more complex and increasingly reliant on project-driven business models, there is an increasing demand for skilled project managers. Today’s employers seek individuals who not only have a strong foundation of technical project management expertise, but also possess the strategic business acumen and leadership skills needed to meet evolving needs.

According to the Project Management Institute (PMI) 2015 Global Job Report, project management will continue a decade-long trajectory of growth. The report cites that from 2010 to 2020, as the profession grows by over US$6.6 trillion, the global economy will see 15.7 million new project management roles created in seven project-intensive industries: manufacturing, business services, finance & insurance, oil & gas, information services, construction, and utilities. As the need for project managers expands, so must practitioners’ skills and knowledge of global standards. Their organizations will benefit, as will the project managers themselves.[1]

Georgetown’s Project Management program provides students with these comprehensive and global skill sets, priming them for successful careers across a broad range of industries. Graduates will be able to pursue positions such as:

  • Project Manager
  • Project Leader
  • Project Planner
  • Team Leader
  • Program Manager
