Brodie Riordan, PhD, is an adjunct faculty member in the Georgetown HR Master's program. She currently co-teaches "Coaching Skills for HR Professionals" with Shonna Waters, PhD. Brodie is an industrial/organizational psychologist, executive coach, feedback zealot, and author. Her career has included global leadership roles in talent and learning & development with Procter & Gamble, Corporate Executive Board (CEB), and McKinsey & Company, where she co-led Partner Learning and led learning and development for Senior Partners, globally.

 

Brodie is an ICF-certified (PCC) executive coach with additional training in team coaching, positive psychology, adult development theory, and several psychological and leadership assessments. She has extensive experience coaching both virtually and in-person across five continents, with clients spanning leadership levels in a variety of industries, including financial services, professional services, venture and private equity, tech, healthcare and pharma, retail and hospitality, consumer goods, and non-profit. Brodie’s consulting practice focuses on complex talent and people challenges, such as talent strategy, performance management, elevating feedback culture and feedback practices, and learning and leadership development. She frequently delivers workshops and speaking engagements on the topics of feedback, coaching skills, leader development, and unlocking potential. She is on a personal mission to change the way people think about feedback, and encourage them to embrace it at least 10% more (or hate it 10% less…). Now in its second edition, her book Feedback Fundamentals, distills findings from decades of research into actionable, approachable tools for work and life.

 

In addition to managing Ocular Inc., Brodie is also an executive coach with BTS, an advisor to several HR tech startups, and an investor with Citrine Angels. Brodie has published over 2 dozen journal articles, books, and book chapters on coaching, feedback, and leadership. Her 2022 book, The Coaching Shift, aims to make coaching skills and a coaching mindset accessible to all. Brodie has an MA and PhD in Industrial/ Organizational (I/O) Psychology from the University of Akron, a BA in psychology from Washington and Lee University, and she completed her leadership coach training in Georgetown University’s Institute for Transformational Leadership. Brodie is also a Certified Professional Retirement Coach.
