The Georgetown Master of Professional Studies in Urban & Regional Planning prepares you to become a visionary leader capable of practicing responsible city building in communities around the world. We believe that cities and urban places are uniquely positioned to reconcile today’s most pressing social, environmental, and economic challenges. Through this program, you will learn to navigate these complexities in a manner that develops community capital—an approach rooted in Georgetown’s legacy of academic excellence, social justice, and a deep commitment to the formation of each individual.
Our curriculum is rooted in the Planning Accreditation Board’s North American standards, and as a member of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning, we ensure you are trained at the highest level of the profession. As a capstone to your studies, you will defend a master’s thesis before a committee of faculty and industry professionals.

Designed for both full-time graduate students and working professionals, our program allows you to pursue the degree at your own pace. With classes held on weekday evenings and options for accelerated (15 months), full-time (two years), or part-time status, you can earn your degree while concurrently engaging in professional internships, apprenticeships, or employment.
