Message from the Faculty Director

Journalism has never mattered more, and it has rarely been under greater strain. Journalists are responsible for verifying what's true, holding power accountable, and giving communities the information they need to govern themselves — all while the business models that once sustained that work are being rebuilt in real time. It's a big job and, at Georgetown, we take it seriously.

Trust in the media, the economics of news, and the tools journalists use to do their work have all changed dramatically — and they're still changing. Pursuing a master's degree with us will sharpen your reporting and editorial judgment, while also connecting you to a program with nearly two decades of history and a network of Georgetown students, faculty, staff, alumni, and working journalists around the world. You'll learn from instructors who are award-winning working journalists themselves with experience you can learn from and connections they bring into the classroom to expand the knowledge you’ll have access to.

Our Journalism program is rigorous and curious, demanding and supportive, and committed to a learning environment that pushes you professionally while honoring who you are and what you're working toward personally. We are here to help you become a sharper, more ethical, more resilient journalist — and to help you do work that matters. We're excited to have you join us.
