Rolando Arrieta
As director of content production & operations, Rolando is on the leadership team that handles daily broadcast operations and breaking news coverage at NPR.
Rolando started his career at NPR as a production assistant nearly three decades ago. He is a three-time Peabody Award recipient and has published radio and digital stories worldwide. He is also a grantee of the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, where he covered the 2017 Cuban migration crisis in collaboration with Radio Ambulante. He is a Fulbright Distinguished Chair scholar at the Catholic University in Porto, Portugal, where he taught and studied immersive audio storytelling and sound design.
Rolando has been on the Georgetown SCS faculty for about ten years. He is the winner of the School of Continuing Studies Tropaia award for outstanding journalism faculty in 2025. Rolando teaches Podcasting and Audio Storytelling at GU and is an advisor for the school’s forthcoming podcast. Rolando is an accomplished whitewater kayaker and in recent years, has become a certified whitewater kayaking instructor.
