John James, M.A., M.F.A, Academic Director
John James is the author of Chthonic, winner of the 2014 CutBank Chapbook Award.
His poems appear or are forthcoming in Boston Review, Kenyon Review, West Branch, Poetry Northwest, Best New Poets 2016, Best American Poetry 2017, and elsewhere. He holds an M.F.A. in poetry from Columbia University and an M.A. in English from Georgetown University, where he served as graduate associate to the Lannan Center for Poetics and Social Practice. He has received two Academy of American Poets Prizes and has twice been named a semi-finalist for the “Discovery”/Boston Review Award. His first book manuscript, currently in circulation, has been a finalist for Tupelo Press’s Berkshire Prize, the Crab Orchard First Book Award, and Four Way Books’ Levis Prize. Also a scholar, he researches the history and philosophy of science in relation to ecological poetics in the British eighteenth century.
