Frederica "Freddi" Brown
Freddi Brown, NBC-HWC, serves as instructional faculty in Georgetown University’s Health & Wellness Coaching Program within the School of Continuing Studies, Institute for Transformational Leadership, and previously served as the program’s Associate Director.
An executive leadership and health & wellness coach, facilitator, technologist, and operations strategist, she has partnered with CEOs, boards, and senior leaders across education, federal agencies, and private industry. At Georgetown, she also coaches undergraduate and graduate students through the Entrepreneurship Program at the McDonough School of Business and leads a private practice as founder of Figure It Out LLC. She has collaborated with the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) on curriculum and exam initiatives, supported the CDC’s National Diabetes Prevention Program pilot, and created NBHWC-accredited continuing education. Freddi serves Washington, DC, as a Commissioner on the Commission for Women, chairs the Education, Labor, and Training Committee, and is the author of Triumph Through Words: Healing That Inner Child - Affirmations I Wished Were Told to Me. Her commitment to coaching grew from personal experience: watching loved ones face preventable chronic illness and later navigating her own health journey. She saw how health inequities and limited resources ripple through families and communities, and how evidence-based habits and skilled support can change that story. She integrates evidence-based practice with Cultural Intelligence (CQ) and Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and embeds this approach in her coaching, curriculum, and facilitation. She models psychological safety and inclusive practice and equips clients to apply it in their own contexts, drawing on an early career in enterprise technology, software development, and quality assurance at Accenture, Lockheed Martin, and Verizon to bring a systems-focused, scalable approach to coaching and instructional design. Her guiding belief: people can grow where they are planted. She earned an Executive Certificate in Health & Wellness Coaching and completed training in Leadership Coaching and the Art of Facilitation at Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies. Trained through the University of Virginia, she serves as a Lifestyle Coach for the CDC’s National Diabetes Prevention Program. She also holds an Executive Certificate in Diversity & Inclusion from Cornell University and certificates from the Cultural Intelligence Center and Dale Carnegie. Freddi earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Computer Information Systems and Science from the University of the District of Columbia. Freddi enjoys cycling, painting, photography, and writing. She also serves on several boards committed to helping individuals transform and reach their goals.
