Scholarship
Prof. Gannon has published widely in modern Irish, British and Global History.
His first monograph - Proclaiming a Republic: Ireland, 1916, and the National Collection - was published by Irish Academic Press in 2016: Proclaiming a Republic: Ireland, 1916, and the National Collection – Irish Academic Press. Launched by Irish Minister for Arts, Heritage, and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys, it was widely reviewed in national media outlets, including the Irish Times, Sunday Independent, and Sunday Business Post.
His second monograph - Conflict, Diaspora, and Empire: Irish nationalism in Britain, 1912-1922 - was published by Cambridge University Press in 2023: Conflict, Diaspora, and Empire. It was awarded the 2024 American Conference for Irish Studies Donald Murphy Prize (Honorable Mention).
His third monograph - Worlds of Revolution: Ireland's global moment, 1919-1923 - is under contract with Cambridge University Press as part of its International and Global History series.
He has served as co-editor for a number of edited volumes/journal issues, including:

Funding
A former Fulbright scholar, Prof. Gannon has been awarded major international research fellowships at the University of Melbourne, the University of Toronto, and New York University. He currently serves as the Ireland Funds Fellow to the Princess Grace Library, Monaco.
Public engagement
Prof. Gannon is a former Curator at the National Museum of Ireland. He is a regular commentator on culture and current affairs for international media outlets, including TIME magazine, ABC Australia, BBC, C-Span, Hello Monaco, Irish Times, Le Monde, RTÉ, Sunday Independent, and TRT World.
