Leyna Co
Leyna Co (she/her) serves as the Associate Director, Immersion and Community-Based Learning.
As a first generation graduate born and raised in Los Angeles, Leyna’s experiences motivate her work in student development, as well as community driven work and advocacy. She joins the CSJ having previously worked at the Swearer Center for Public Service at Brown University where she focused on community-engaged learning and engaged scholarship, as well as Johns Hopkins University where she provided holistic support and programming for first-generation, limited income students. In addition to her work in higher education, Leyna has several years of experience working within education based nonprofits. She spent time working directly in the classroom with students ranging from 4th to 9th grade, as well as alongside community as a youth outreach coordinator developing and facilitating sexual violence prevention education for high school students and adults across the Greater Boston Area. Leyna graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with Bachelor’s of Arts degrees in Psychology and Environmental Science. She also holds a Master’s in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education with a focus on Human Development and Psychology and emphasis on ethnic-racial identity development.
