Simon Cleveland

Dr. Simon Cleveland has over two decades of experience in managing complex technological projects, including software systems projects for NASA, Department of Education, Department of Homeland Security, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Accenture, Avanade (joint venture of Microsoft and Accenture), General Dynamics, and AOL. For the past several years, he has taught graduate-level courses in project management, information systems, and information technology at Georgetown University, the Johns Hopkins University and Northeastern University. With his proven ability to leverage appropriate teaching and evaluation strategies that address the needs of a variety of student learning styles at both graduate and undergraduate levels, Dr. Cleveland contributed to the curriculum creation for several project management courses. Dr. Cleveland is a professionally certified (PMP, DASM, CSM, CSPO, ITIL, Six Sigma Black Belt) technology expert and a dynamic researcher with over 50 peer-reviewed journal and conference publications in the fields of project management, information systems, and computer mediated communication. He currently serves as the Associate Editor for the International Journal of Information Technology Project Management, the International Journal of Project Management and Productivity Assessment, the International Journal of Information and Communication Technology Education and the International Journal of Smart Education and Urban Society. Dr. Cleveland serves on several Editorial Review Boards for international journals on project management, business research, information and communication technology and knowledge management. He earned a Ph.D. in Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University, an Ed.D in Organizational Leadership from Northeastern University, a M.S. in Project Management from the George Washington University, a MPS in Strategic Management, Organizational Development and Change from Purdue University Global, a M.A. in Leadership from City University of Seattle and a B.S. in Management and Marketing (double major) from George Mason University. Dr. Cleveland is a three-time recipient of the prestigious Dr. Harold Kerzner Scholarship awarded by the Project Management Institute Educational Foundation. In 2017, Dr. Cleveland was awarded the Tropaia Award Recipient for Outstanding Faculty at Georgetown University. In 2021, he received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Johns Hopkins University.
