Benjamin Kershner

Ben Kershner is a data scientist, educator, and technology leader specializing in artificial intelligence, data strategy, and mission-driven innovation. He is currently a Senior AI/ML Engineer at Torch.AI, where he designs and deploys production-grade AI systems supporting U.S. defense and intelligence missions. His work focuses on natural language processing pipelines that convert complex government text into machine-executable logic, as well as retrieval-augmented generation, vector search, and multi-agent architectures that enable scalable, decision-ready intelligence.

Ben’s expertise spans large language models, agentic AI systems, and end-to-end data platform engineering. He is proficient in Python, SQL, and cloud-native architectures, with a track record of translating advanced technical capabilities into practical solutions for senior government and commercial stakeholders.

Previously, Ben was a Lead Data Scientist at MITRE Corporation, where he led cross-functional teams delivering AI/ML systems for DHS, DoD, and interagency partners. He began his career at Deloitte, supporting analytics and technology initiatives across federal defense, homeland security, and health sectors.

He holds a Master of Science in Business Analytics from the University of Virginia and dual bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Political Science from George Washington University, with minors in Statistics and History.
