For two decades, I have provided a suite of spokesperson and public and community/government relations services for a number of nonprofits, institutions of higher education, government organizations and small businesses and startups.
I teach for the following top institutions: University of Virginia School of Continuing and Professional Studies Public Relations program, Georgetown University Master of Public Relations and Corporate Communication program, American University Master’s in Strategic Communication program, Northeastern University Master of Corporate and Organizational Communication program, Purdue University Brian Lamb School of Communication Master of Communication program, University of Maryland University College Master of Management (Public Relations and Nonprofit tracks), University of Denver University College Master of Arts Communication Management and Chautauqua Institution Special Studies program.
I have served as deputy spokesperson for UVA, director of media relations for the UVA Darden School of Business and director of communications and public relations for Danville (Va.) Regional Foundation. I have a background as an on-camera spokesperson and host in Los Angeles and served as a special investigator in New York City, investigating sex and drug crimes against children.
I earned my doctorate in public administration with a focus on public policy/communications from Valdosta State University, Master of Public Administration degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and B.A. from the University of Virginia. I graduated from the UVA Sorensen Political Leaders and Duke University Nonprofit Certificate programs and have completed coursework toward a Certificate in Leadership from the UVA Darden School of Business. I am a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Richmond Chapter and hold my Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) certification — a mark of distinction, results-oriented outcomes and ethics in the public relations industry.
In August 2018, I was appointed to the Fulbright Specialist Communications and Journalism roster — a unique opportunity for U.S. academics and established professionals to engage in two- to six-week, project-based exchanges at host institutions across the globe.
