At FC Barcelona—one of the most famous soccer club in the world—some things haven’t changed. “Messi still scores the goals,” says Jordi Moix, a member of the team’s board. “Because he’s a genius—no?” Yes, winger/striker Lionel Messi still scores the goals, and he is, indeed, a genius. But now the club wants to share some of its other creative talent through its Barca Innovation Hub, a center for the latest advances in sports medicine, technology, and related fields. Here, Moix talks with Daniel Kelly, Ph.D., Faculty Director of Georgetown’s Sports Industry Management Program, about the University’s new partnership with the club and what it could mean for students, players, and soccer aficionados, both here and abroad.
