Dr. Christopher-Byrd's research examines the socio-political position of Black women in the United States. She regularly serves as an expert on panels and publishes scholarly articles on the cultural politics of race, class, gender and sexuality and their translation into public policy and social institutions. An alumna of the University of Delaware, she holds Master of Arts degrees in Education and Human Development and Women's Studies and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Language, Literacy and Culture. Prior to entering the professoriate, Dr. Christopher-Byrd served as a University administrator in residence life, student activities and judicial services, where she adjudicated disciplinary cases involving sexual assault and physical violence.
