Erinn Tucker

Erinn D. Tucker, PhD of Georgetown University is the Faculty Director of the Global Hospitality Leadership master’s program and Co-Founder of DMV Black Restaurant Week.

She has worked for over 20 years in hospitality and event management for restaurant and Fortune 500 companies. She has been quoted in the Washington Post, Food & Wine Magazine, Washingtonian, DCist, Wall Street Journal, amongst other regional publications. She has been widely sought after for regional metropolitan media such as WTOP, Foodie and the Beast, WPRW, WEACT Radio, Fox5, WUSA Channel 9 and others. Dr. Tucker has consulted for companies such Amtrak, Social Tables, APPLOI, the Charlotte Hornets and Charlotte Knights and has contributed event management experience to the 2016 Democratic National Convention. Globally, Erinn has provided curriculum and development design for workforce-training company, West Africa Vocational Education (WAVE) in Nigeria, which provides training for adults to pursue jobs in the hospitality industry and she has instructed adult students enrolled in a hospitality government workforce development program for University of Nevada Las Vegas, Singapore campus. 


Dr. Tucker is the co-founder, DMV Black Restaurant Week whose mission is to celebrate and support black hospitality, food and beverage entrepreneurs and employees though awareness professional development, external resources and events. She has contributed articles for Lodging, the official publication of the American Hotel and Lodging Association and Social Tables. She co-chaired the HR and Diversity Summit for Lodging magazine for three successful years, served as chair and committee member for several hospitality associations including the International Council of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Educators (ICHRIE) and Professional Conventions Management Association (PCMA) among others.


As a scholar, writer, and trainer in the hospitality profession, Dr. Tucker has maintained her certification as a diversity meeting professional. Before Georgetown, she has held faculty appointments at Boston University, Temple University, and Johnson and Wales University, the latter being one of the top culinary arts program in the US. Her published work has appeared in tourism journals, textbooks, publications and trade periodicals. 


Dr. Tucker is a recipient of the 2016 Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education’s ‘Article of the Year’ awarded by the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ICHRIE) and is the 2017-2018 Northeast North American (NENA) Federation President for ICHRIE. She was also inducted into the Pinnacle Leadership Society - Distinguished Alumni from her alma mater Winthrop University College of Business. Erinn is active in key industry associations through committee membership and leadership in the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA).


Dr. Tucker holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, a master’s degree in Sport Administration from Florida State University and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Winthrop University. Erinn completed her Ph.D. in Hospitality Administration at Oklahoma State University (OSU).
