Sonya Sims

Sonya D. Sims has over 25 years of progressive experience in business consulting, change management, higher education, and public sector project management, human resources, leadership coaching, and organizational development.

Ms. Sims serves as the Director of Human Resources Business Partners and main campus HR at Georgetown University, where she develops, executes, and delivers effective HR strategies, services, and programs and drives change efforts and human capital/workforce planning strategies by building collaborative, trusted, and credible relationships with leadership and key stakeholders across the University.


Ms. Sims has also utilized her human resources, coaching, and business consulting skills in various roles in the private and public sectors, including Sr. Project Manager with Winbourne Consulting, LLC, Human Resources Consultant with US Airways and Arthur Andersen, and Public Affairs Specialist with the Executive Office of the Mayor of Washington, DC. 


Ms. Sims received her B.A. in Political Science and Public Relations from Howard University and her M.S. in Human Resource Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus. She is a Doctoral candidate in Drexel University's Educational Leadership program with a concentration in Mind, Brain Learning. Ms. Sims was one of thirty-four participants (out of an international pool of applicants) accepted into Georgetown University’s Center for Transformational Leadership, where she received her Leadership Coaching certification.
