Andrew Aydin, Master of Arts in Liberal Studies ‘12, Wins 2016 National Book Award as Co-Author of March: Book Three

March: Book Three coverThe Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program congratulates alumnus Andrew Aydin, '12, his co-author Congressman John Lewis, and illustrator Nate Powell for receiving the 2016 National Book Award in the Young Person's Literature Category for March: Book Three, the final installment of a trilogy recounting the history of the American Civil Rights Movement in a graphic novel format.

Last spring, Andrew presented to Graduate Liberal Studies students, alumni, and faculty and recounted how important his experience in the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program had been in enabling him to write the books, which followed upon his master’s thesis on the history and impact of Dr. Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights Movement.
