Matthew Heim is an award-winning digital, PR and communications manager with extensive experience leading cross-functional teams on integrated marketing campaigns. In his current role at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, he is the digital strategy manager for the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. He's responsible for setting the strategy for the office's digital platforms: HealthIT.gov, its complementary blog Health IT Buzz Blog, email marketing, and social media.
Before coming to the public sector, Mr. Heim was a Vice President at Ketchum Public Relations. He crafted and integrated digital ideas into solid, real-life digital goals, strategies, and tactics for a multitude of clients ranging from federal and state governments to food, healthcare, and cause-based organizations. He developed and executed comprehensive project plans that included meeting delivery and budget milestones, requirements documentation, messaging/strategy, content development, information architecture, design, software development and quality assurance processes.
Mr. Heim has performed work across the media spectrum - between paid, earned, shared, and owned. Projects have included mobile apps, responsive websites (small to large), blogs, social activation, online advertising (click-to-call, banner ads), Drupal platform upgrades, email marketing, live broadcasts, and widgets.
Prior to Ketchum, Mr. Heim worked in the media as a newscast and online producer. He also spent time at Deloitte Consulting.
He earned a Master of Science degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from West Virginia University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Bethany College (WV).
