Ashley Nartey
Ashley Nartey is an early childhood educator, school administrator and an adjunct instructor. In addition to teaching in the Georgetown University Certificate in Early Intervention Program, Ms. Nartey serves as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Community and a Lead Teacher at an inclusive, play based preschool in Washington, D.C. Prior to becoming an educator, she worked in pediatric HIV research at NIH, and in education assessment at a large non-profit specializing in behavioral and social science research. Ms. Nartey received her B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies from Penn State University and holds a M.S. in Early Childhood Special Education from Johns Hopkins University. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Education with a specialization in Early Childhood Education and Education Leadership at George Mason University. Ms. Nartey’s research interests include culturally responsive school leadership, culturally responsive pedagogy, and supporting children and families of color in early childhood settings. In addition to her studies, she also teaches an undergraduate course on early childhood education for diverse learners (including linguistic, ability, and socioeconomic diverse contexts).
