Mary Ugone

Mary Ugone is a retired Federal senior executive with over 30 years of Federal Government experience, 17 years at the managerial level and 7 years as a senior executive.

In 2007, Mary received the Presidential Meritorious Executive Rank Award and from 2003 to 2006, received Awards of Excellence from the President’s Council on Integrity and Efficiency. Her experience as a former member of the Senior Executive Service provides her with a unique perspective on the challenges that face Federal managers and executives. As such, Mary is well versed in the Office of Personnel Management’s 28 government-wide leadership competencies that make up the five Executive Core Qualifications – Leading Change, Leading People, Results Driven, Business Acumen and Building Coalitions. Mary now provides leadership coaching and consulting services, with a particular emphasis on leadership development and performance results. Her leadership training and presentations have included Writing ECQs and Leadership Effectiveness Inventory Assessment and Coaching for the Graduate School USA; Leadership Effectiveness Inventory Assessment and coaching for the UVA Darden School of Business: Army Senior Executive Education Program, Intermediate Course; serving as a panel member on the U.S. Department of Energy Leadership Development Series Event: “Too Senior to Fail: Five Key Mission-Critical Leadership Practices;” co-presenting “Beyond the Technical” at the 2014 Annual Meeting of the ISACA National Capital Area Chapter; and serving as keynote speaker at the 2012 Bureau of Labor Statistics Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Mary’s formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Virginia and a Master in Public Administration, concentrating in Government Management and graduating with distinction from the Keller Graduate School of Management. She also graduated from the Secretary of Defense Executive Leadership Demonstration Program and the Federal Executive Institute. In 2013, Mary graduated from the Leadership Coaching for Organizational Performance program at George Mason University, and in 2014, completed the Graduate School, USA Leadership Effectiveness Inventory Certification Workshop. Her professional credentials include Certified Public Accountant from the State of Virginia, Certified Systems Professional from the Institute of Certified Computing Professionals, and Associate Certified Coach from the International Coach Federation.
