Jessica Grounds

Jessica N. Grounds, MA Jessica Grounds is a recognized thought leader in the space of women’s leadership.

She was named to Marie Claires List of 50 Most Influential Women. She has founded and led multiple organizations to advance women in leadership. As the Co-Founder of Mine the Gap, she equips leaders, industries, and organizations with the strategy to create and sustain gender-inclusive work environments. She has worked with industry leaders, including Amazon, National Geographic, and Facebook. Over the years her work has garnered significant private sector investment from companies including Walmart, Lockheed Martin, Deloitte, and Google. Jessica is the Co-Founder and former Executive Director of Running Start, an organization that trains young women to run for elected office. She led the Women Under Forty Political Action Committee (WUFPAC) as president, and served on the Board of Directors for fourteen years. She has advised and consulted hundreds of political candidates and organizations. Leading up to the 2016 presidential election, she served as the Director of Women Ready for Hillary. She is the former Senior Vice President for political consulting firm Stones’ Phones. Jessica lectures globally about the importance of advancing women’s equity and the barriers to women’s leadership. She has extensive experience internationally working with the U.S. Department of State and international NGO’s. Jessica holds Masters in Leadership from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University and a graduate certificate in Women, Policy, and Political Leadership from the Women & Politics Institute at American University. She has published cutting-edge research on women’s leadership in Congress and the private sector. Her work has been profiled in numerous publications including Bloomberg, Fast Company, NPR, ELLE, Glamour, National Journal, Washington Post, Politico, and Forbes. In 2018 she was named “40 Under 40” recipient by the American Association of Political Consultants. Campaigns & Elections magazine has recognized her as a Top 50 Political Influencer. Jessica graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Pepperdine University. She currently teaches the Women and Politics course at her alma mater. After living and working for 16 years in Washington, DC, she relocated back to her hometown San Diego in 2019.
