Oleg Svet

Dr. Oleg Svet is an adjunct professor at the Security Studies Program in Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.

He is an expert in grand strategy, emerging threats, and the changing character of war. He has supported senior leaders at the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Staff in force planning decisions related to joint force structure, design, and development since 2017.

Previously, Dr. Svet was a military legislative assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives and a contractor with US Forces-Iraq based at the American Embassy in Baghdad. He has advised multiple defense consultancies and taught courses on modern war and counterterrorism at King’s College London and Tufts University.

Dr. Svet holds a PhD in War Studies from King’s College London, an MA in Strategic Studies and International Economics from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, and a BA with honors in International Relations from Tufts University, where he was a Tisch Scholar.
