Josephine Harrington has been with the Georgetown SIM program since the Summer of 2016, teaching the Sports Finance course and has also served each semester and a Capstone Advisor.
Currently, Josephine Harrington serves as the Director of Athletic Administration at Tower Hill School in Wilmington, DE. She manages the day-today operations of the Athletic Department.
Additionally, Josephine Harrington, has been with American University Athletics since 2008, was promoted to Deputy Director of Athletics in December, 2018, and took over Senior Woman Administrator duties in June, 2020. Harrington began her AU career as the Associate Athletic Director for Business Operations, and in June of 2012 she was promoted for the first time to Senior Associate Athletic Director. Her role is now part0time consulting with the department.
Her duties include managing all business operations for the department. She also serves as the sport supervisor for the women’s soccer team and manages department special projects and administrative units, including facility & operations, equipment operations, and strength & conditioning. She also assists with the formulation of the mission and long-term goals of the department.
Harrington came to American after spending the previous 17 months at Georgetown, where she served as the Director of Business Operations. While at Georgetown, Harrington was responsible for the daily operations of the athletic business office that oversees 29 varsity sports. She monitored all of the financial functions of the department, including accounts payable, payroll and purchasing. In addition, Harrington served as the supervisor of four full-time staff positions and handled department budgets.
Prior to her time at Georgetown, Harrington spent three years at Fordham University as the Coordinator of Ticket and Business Operations while also obtaining her MBA in marketing and finance. Harrington handled all ticket operations and sales, team travel, and assisted in generating the athletic department’s yearly budgets.
Harrington also spent a year at the University of Delaware as a sports marketing assistant from 2003-04 and worked as a marketing intern while obtaining her BS from Maryland, where she was a Dean’s List student.
She holds membership with CABMA. Harrington, formerly Josephine Finamore, resides in Wilmington, DE., with her husband and three children.
