Sarah Stiles uses her backgrounds in government and law to bring added depth to the courses she teaches. "Law & Society" and "Race, Society, and Cinema" are two courses students find game-changing. Perhaps the most important course she teaches, however, has to do with student well-being, "Flourishing in the Future," and "Flourishing in College and Community."

In 2013, in response to the drastic uptick in student anxiety and overwhelm, Prof. Stiles partnered with Carol Day, Director of Health Education Services, to offer a course that would educate students as to the factors causing their distress, the social influences, and scientifically proven actions they can take to enjoy their college experience -- and post graduate life.

Professor Stiles respects her students and believes learning can be an enjoyable experience.

In May 2014 and 2019 Prof. Stiles received the highest faculty award at Georgetown College, the Edward B. Bunn, S.J. Award for Faculty Excellence. "The award is annually presented to a member of the College Faculty who, in the estimation of the Georgetown College Senior Class, is admired and respected by all students for his or her service to Georgetown students in the lecture hall and on the campus." She has received the Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching in Georgetown College, the Excellence in Entrepreneurship Faculty Award from the Georgetown McDonough School of Business, and the Outstanding Partner Award from the Georgetown Division of Student Affairs. She was honored to receive the Commitment to Diversity Award from the Student of Color Alliance in 2013 and 2014. She won first and second place the two years she participated with Dancing with the Hoyas.
