As a student in the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies program, you’ll join motivated learners seeking to advance their careers while balancing work, family, and other personal and professional obligations.
The diversity of our student body contributes to an enriching and engaging classroom experience, in which you’ll have the opportunity to learn with—and from—your peers. Whether you have previous college experience or are starting your bachelor’s for the first time, you’ll connect with a community of classmates from a wide variety of backgrounds and professions. Some have been out of school for decades, while others were more recently enrolled. For whatever reason students had to put their education aside, they come to Georgetown’s program ready to pursue a well-rounded education—one based in interdisciplinary study and specialized skills within one of five concentrations.
A large portion of students coming into our program generally fall into one of the below categories: career changers, graduate school aspirants, and military-connected learners. If you don’t fit into any of these categories, not to worry—regardless of your previous experiences or future goals, all of our students are working toward expanding their knowledge and completing their degree.
Graduate School Aspirants
If you have aspirations of completing a graduate degree but need to finish your bachelor’s degree first, the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies program is a great option to consider. Our curriculum will prepare you with the critical thinking skills you need to analyze different pieces of information and synthesize new perspectives on a global scale. You’ll also develop intensive reading and writing skills that will prime you for success in the graduate school admissions process and beyond. The interdisciplinary education you receive in our program will provide the foundation that will support your future studies—whether it’s law school, an MBA program, or any other industry-specific degree.
Georgetown is dedicated to making education more accessible for our nation's service members, veterans, and their families. Aligning with our mission and history, we provide active duty service members, reservists, veterans, and military families with the resources they need to transition back into both the classroom and the workforce. We also offer transfer credit for your Joint Services Transcript (JST) and provide services through the University to help our military-connected students in any way that we can.
The student body of our bachelor’s program comprises a robust military-connected community that spans a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Additionally, our faculty members—some of which are veterans themselves—are available to provide guidance on any educational concerns you may have and offer support to help you meet your career goals.
