Shadi (Chady) Abouzeid
Dr. Shadi Abouzeid is a scholar-practitioner at the intersection of geopolitics and intelligence who brings the tools of the analyst, wargaming, modeling, and AI to help leaders anticipate strategic risks. What distinguishes his work is method: a Management Science PhD and two decades applying operations research and decision science to how organizations actually behave, now turned toward how power behaves.
At Georgetown University, where he serves as Associate Professor of the Practice and Associate Faculty Director, his research spans soft power in Africa and Asia, the New Middle East, US–China competition, and the use of AI in intelligence analysis, in monographs, edited volumes, and forthcoming articles in Energy Policy and European Security.
He is equally a convener. He co-created the "Drivers of Geopolitical Insecurity" series, drawing experts from NATO, the World Bank, and the Economist Intelligence Unit; designed a strategic wargame run weeks before the U.S. election; and led the NSA accreditation of Georgetown's Cybersecurity Risk Management master's program. Elected to the University Senate in 2026, he works at the seam where scholarship, practice, and institution-building meet.
