Benjamin Bengfort
Driven by a desire to build large systems with a large number of users that have a big impact, Benjamin focuses on products and services that can learn from real-time streaming data. These products and services include distributed computing and networking, machine learning, natural language processing, security, and more. Benjamin is the program director of the Georgetown Data Science Certificate programs where he also teaches Machine Learning and courses in Advanced Data Science as well as graduate courses on parallel computation. He is also currently the Founder and CEO of Rotational Labs, a distributed data company that focuses on implementing data products that span the globe and allows companies to scale their products and services with state-of-the-art distributed systems and context-aware localization. Benjamin is deeply involved with the data science and open source community. He is a founder and maintainer of scikit-yellowbrick, an open source visual steering and diagnostic library for machine learning and also contributes to a number of open source libraries. He is an emeritus board member and active participant in Data Community DC and a contributor at District Data Labs. He has also mentored students as part of the Google Summer of Code and leads research labs and code sprints to introduce others to open source. His main research interests include planet-scale consensus, distributed storage systems, natural language processing, machine and statistical learning, distributed computation, and multi-agent systems.
