Jeffery Carroll
Jeffery Carroll currently serves as the Assistant Chief of Police, managing the Homeland Security Bureau (HSB) of the Washington D.C Metropolitan Police Department.
His position is one of five Executive Command Staff positions that are responsible for the implementation of goals and objectives set by the Chief of Police and Mayor of the District of Columbia. Assistant Chief Carroll oversees the Special Operations Division, the Joint Strategic and Tactical Analysis Command Center Division, and the Joint Terrorism Task Force Office. As part of his duties Assistant Chief Carroll oversees all First Amendment Demonstrations and Special Events handled by the Metropolitan Police Department.
Before being named Assistant Chief of HSB, Carroll served as the Special Operations Division (SOD) Commander and the Commander of the Third Police District. Assistant Chief Carroll has held various positions within MPD, including Captain in the Sixth Police District and SOD Captain, Lieutenant in the Third Police District, Sergeant in the First Police District and the Office of the Assistant Chief of the Patrol Services and School Security Bureau. Assistant Chief Carroll began his career with MPD as a patrol officer assigned to the Third Police District.
Assistant Chief Carroll graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Anthropology in 2002. He earned a graduate certificate in Criminal Justice Education from the University of Virginia and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Assistant Chief Carroll also received a Master’s Degree in Security and Safety Leadership from The George Washington University. Assistance Chief Carroll serves as an adjunct instructor at The Catholic University of America and Georgetown University.
