Distinguished 29 year career in government and private sectors encompasses senior leadership with the

U.S. Departments of Treasury and Justice as the Deputy Director & Chief Operating Officer of the Bureau of

Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF) and as the New York City Sheriff - serving as the city’s

chief civil law enforcement officer, head of the enforcement division and the New York State Court System.

In one of the highest profile law enforcement leadership roles in America post 9/11, guided the immense

organizational shift as the ATF moved from the U.S. Department of Treasury to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Served a three-year term with considerable distinction elevating performance of all operations

Worked closely with the U.S. Attorney General, State Attorneys, District Attorneys and international, national,

state, and local law enforcement leaders to improve security, mitigate threats, and combat violent crimes.

Reduced organized crime and brought gang leaders, gun traffickers, drug rings, and a wide range of violent

criminals to justice. Extensive experience with risk management and threat assessments. Recognized for

inspiring security, law enforcement, and public servants to do what is right – and get it right the first time.

 Oversaw national regulatory and criminal enforcement activities with 48 Senior Executive Service (SES)

members leading 4,800 law enforcement and public service employees

 Led well integrated national operations involving 400 field offices with a $980 million budget

 Worked closely with U.S. Attorney General and national leaders on heightened national security measures to

ameliorating the pressures and threats of global terrorist networks and organized crime

 Ensured internal controls and the protection of assets across more than 400 field offices and at ATF

headquarters in Washington, DC. Provided oversight of an annual budget in excess of $980 million

 Forged strong federal, state, and local law enforcement alliances working with New York City Law

Department, NYC Intellectual Property Unit, Brooklyn District Attorney, NYC Sheriff’s Department, and New

York City Police Department. Improved efficiency and effectiveness of all operations

 Formulated law enforcement strategies to dismantle illicit tobacco activities that were costing the U.S. and

New York area state governments over $150 million in fair trade and tax revenues
