Elizabeth Stein

Elizabeth Hillman Stein is an award-winning global corporate communications executive and brand builder with a proven track record at global companies where she developed innovative public-facing communications strategies that built brands, launched global talent, preserved the corporate identities of networks and programming franchises. As a communications consultant, Stein provides all facets of strategic communications leadership and develops integrated business strategies that drive results and create passionate communities across education, media, technology, and non-profits. She has worked with notable clients including SXSW, SXSW EDU, The Atlantic, National Journal, Government Executive Media Group, Trinity Education Group, Reading Is Fundamental, Earth Day Network, and Global Environment Media. In addition to her consulting work, Liz serves as an Adjunct Capstone Advisor at Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies.


Prior to consulting, Liz spent much of her career at world-renowned organizations including Discovery Communications, Hallmark Channel and National Geographic and managed the press for Discovery’s global hits Shark Week, and Planet Earth, to name a few.


While at Discovery Communications, Stein held the post of Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications, where she oversaw all facets of communications for the company’s government affairs team, social good efforts and education division, Discovery Education. In this role, Stein supported various communications efforts for initiatives including Discovery Communications’ backing of President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper, Discovery Education’s involvement with the White House Science Fair, and Capitol Hill screenings of Discovery networks’ premier programming. 


An active member in the community, Liz is on the Board of 1455 Literary Arts Society and the DC/Baltimore chapter of Women in Cable and Telecommunications (WICT). She belongs to the Education Writers Association and volunteers with Emerging Scholars. Liz was honored with WICT’s Touchstone of Leadership Award acknowledging her as “a powerful communicator who embodies conviction and passion – qualities of a great leader” as well as the John Hendricks Award for Innovation for two-years-in-a-row.

 

Liz earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown University and a Masters of Arts degree from George Washington University.
