Cybersecurity Risk Management—Virtual Sample Class

In response to the evolving threats—and increasing costs—of the digital landscape, today’s organizations are now prioritizing cybersecurity risk management more than ever. According to a recent research report from the Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), 39 percent of organizations said that increasing cybersecurity protection was one of their highest business initiatives driving IT spending.

As a result, there is a growing demand for cybersecurity professionals—and that demand continues to soar. In fact, a recent report from Cybersecurity Ventures predicts that there will be 3.5 million cybersecurity job openings by 2021.

But as demand continues to climb, the talent gap continues to widen. According to ESG’s global IT survey, between 2014 and 2018, the number of respondents who claimed their organization had a problematic shortage of cybersecurity skills jumped by nearly 122 percent.

So, what are organizations looking for in the talent pool? Today’s cybersecurity professionals must be agile, strategic thinkers who are able to analyze and address complex, multifaceted challenges. They also need the big-picture perspective and communication skills to be able to effectively manage risks—and communicate solutions—across the enterprise.

Georgetown’s program will position you to fill this critical void, equipping you with the cross-disciplinary skills and expertise that today’s employers demand. You’ll leave the program primed for success in a variety of roles within the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
