Rolando is a three-time George Foster Peabody award-winning journalist, storyteller and educator.
At NPR, he manages the day-to-day content production and breaking news operation. Rolando has traveled on assignment to Cuba, Panama, Haiti, Puerto Rico and West Africa. His most recent trip was to the U.S. Virgin Islands to cover the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. As a Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting grantee, he recently produced a podcast episode on the Cuban migration for NPR's Radio Ambulante. Rolando is recipient of the Fulbright Distinguished Chair Award and has taught radio production at the Catholic University in Porto, Portugal and at American University.
