Georgetown University’s Master of Professional Studies in Urban & Regional Planning prepares you to design sustainable solutions for local communities in a rapidly urbanizing world. You'll have the opportunity to study urban planning in the global hub of Washington, D.C., where organizations and institutions are planning and investing in the future of cities.

Our program provides the applied knowledge, skills, and values necessary for you to become a city-building leader. Through a combination of academic theory and applied studio work, you’ll develop the skills and analytic insights needed for success in the urban planning industry.

Our program embraces urbanization on a global scale, with an emphasis on responsible leadership and development practices. You'll gain market-relevant skills in applied urban research, geo-spatial analysis, and professional best practices. You'll also advance your skills in a technology- and data-enabled curriculum designed to embrace new and emerging professional practices, including integrated use of Geographic Information Systems. 

In the classroom, you’ll learn from scholars and practitioners, who introduce the tools and methods associated with complex urban analysis. In the field, you'll have opportunities to apply our skills through urban studios, international travel, independent research, and professional networking.
