Laura is a legal and business executive with more than twenty years of experience in private and public companies and major law firms.
Currently a member of SmithDehn LLP, a global media, entertainment, and sports law firm, Laura represents broadcasters and producers of feature length films and television series. Among other corporate and individual clients, she also represents talent in the entertainment and sports industry, including professional athletes. Laura has also recently and concurrently founded sports- and apparel-related ventures. Laura's professional background includes a clerkship with former Justice Gary S. Stein of the New Jersey Supreme Court and several years of private law practice in leading Manhattan and New Jersey firms. From 1999 to 2011 she served as Vice President of Legal Affairs at the global media company, Discovery Communications, Inc. (DCI), encompassing Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, and other DCI channels. Born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, Laura received her B.A. from Georgetown University, where she walked on the basketball team as a freshman and subsequently played three years of varsity lacrosse. In her senior year, Laura was elected captain and named co-MVP. She earned her J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law, where she was appointed Articles Editor of the Rutgers Law Review. As a 2012 graduate of the Georgetown Sports Industry Management (SIM) program, Laura received the Outstanding Student Award at graduation. Laura teaches the SIM Capstone course and is writing a book related to her Capstone project. A former high school and collegiate athlete and avid fan, Laura was inducted into the Princeton Day School’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999. She finished the New York City Marathon in 2014 as a member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training.
