CHESAPEAKE REAL ESTATE GROUP

Gene is the President of Chesapeake Real Estate Group (CREG). CREG is a development company which also operates a long-term hold portfolio which it's acquiring using a private equity model. Gene was previously COO and Principal at Thomas Park Investments and EVP & COO at Greenberg Gibbons Commercial. Gene is also a Principal with Rosso Commercial Real Estate Services. Gene has experience representing tenants, landlords, buyers and sellers of commercial real estate. As an advisor/consultant, Gene also has experience working with business in the areas of strategic planning, executive coaching, leadership development, equity fundraising, and creating business plans.

Gene also spent 26 years with Continental Realty Corporation, including 10 years as President. CRC owns and operates $2B+ of shopping centers and multifamily apartments throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast U.S., and has more than 300 employees. Gene held numerous operational and executive positions with CRC, and has extensive experience in many property types and in real estate private equity funds.

Gene has a B.A. from Towson University, an M.S. in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University and an M.B.A. from Loyola University Maryland where he was named to the Beta Gamma Sigma business honor society. Gene also holds real estate broker licenses in MD, VA, DC, DE, NC & SC. 

Gene has taught at the University of Baltimore, Johns Hopkins University and Georgetown University. He has taught numerous commercial real estate courses, to both full and part-time students in Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and online, and as a capstone adviser. Gene has also been deeply involved in curriculum development, online course development and has designed his own university courses, including a course for NAIOP. Gene has been a guest speaker on real estate topics throughout the industry, including guest lecturing at Loyola University Maryland, College of Charleston, and Temple University. 

Gene currently serves on the boards of directors for Royco Properties, The Chevy Chase Land Company, and Snell Properties. He served on the board of a large non-profit for 16 years, holding numerous leadership roles, including chair of the board. Gene is a volunteer firefighter/EMT.  He has extensive firefighter training, and has been a top responder, a fire sergeant, and chair of the membership committee. He is currently a volunteer FF/EMT at the Lutherville VFC in Baltimore County, MD. Gene was also a U.S. Marine, receiving an honorable discharge as a sergeant in 1995.
