Olof Kronvall

Dr. Olof Kronvall’s expertise includes European and transatlantic security policy; national security policy, counterinsurgency, stability operations, irregular warfare, military power and doctrine (with a focus on the US); and Cold War history.

In addition to teaching in the Security Studies Program, he is teaching at George Washington University and has previously taught at The Washington Center, the Norwegian Defence University College, the Royal Norwegian Naval Academy, and the Swedish National Defence College. Dr. Kronvall worked at the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies from 2007-11 and at the Swedish National Defence College from 1996-2007. He also spent two academic years in Washington, DC, first as a visiting scholar at George Washington University, Elliott School of International Affairs, Institute of Russian, European and Eurasian Studies (2005-6), and then at Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in the Europe Program (2009-10). He served as an expert in the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs’ Raoul Wallenberg Commission in 2002.
