Maria Trujillo

Maria Trujillo, Ph.D. is faculty director and associate professor of the practice for the Master’s in Systems Engineering and Master’s in Technology Management at Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies.

Trujillo’s academic focus area is the intersection of technology, education, management, and development. 


Before joining SCS, she served as deputy director of capacity development for a USAID-supported global project with the goal of providing technical support to countries fighting AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. With more than 25 years of experience as an international development and knowledge management consultant, and business owner, Trujillo has a history of using technology to promote growth and innovation that dates back to 1990, when she connected her home country of Colombia to the internet. 


Trujillo earned a Ph.D. in International Development and Technology Transfer from the Payson Center at Tulane University, a Master’s in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh, and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Universidad del Valle, Colombia.
