Chelsea Berry is an Atlanticist who grew up in the woods of Vermont and has since been transplanted happily to the busy streets of DC.
She has recently returned from a year of archival research abroad in Brazil, France, Martinique, Portugal, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Her research explores the intersections and relationships between ideas about medicine and sorcery in the early modern Atlantic, as seen through the lens of poison trials in eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century Bahia, Suriname, Martinique, and Virginia.
