Along with other SCS faculty, she is also a maintainer and core contributor to Yellowbrick, an open source Python project that extends the scikit-learn API with visual analysis and diagnostic tools to guide the model selection process. Kristen believes that it is important to give back to the open source community and volunteers her time by serving as Chair of the Python Software Foundation’s Poster Committee and as Chair of Yellowbrick’s Advisory Board.   Kristen was invited to join the Georgetown Data Science faculty in 2019 as an adjunct lecturer, where she now teaches the program’s SQL Fundamentals course. The following year, she was offered a new role as a subject matter expert for the university’s new Data Analytics Bootcamp, which included the opportunity to design and create a new Data Visualization course that she will begin teaching in the Fall.   Kristen graduated from Indiana University with an MPA from The School of Public and Environmental Affairs and an MA from The Russian and East European Institute.   Her main research interests include machine learning, feature engineering, and open source development.
