Along with other SCS faculty, she is also a maintainer and core contributor to Yellowbrick, an open source Python project that extends the scikit-learn API with visual analysis and diagnostic tools to guide the model selection process. Kristen believes that it is important to give back to the open source community and volunteers her time by serving as Chair of the Python Software Foundation’s Poster Committee and on the Yellowbrick’s Advisory Board. Kristen was invited to join the Georgetown Data Science faculty in 2019 as an adjunct lecturer, where she has taught the program’s SQL Fundamentals and Python Basics for Data Analysis courses. The following year, she was offered a new role as a subject matter expert for the university’s new Data Analytics Bootcamp, which included the opportunity to design and create the program’s Data Visualization course. Her main research interests include machine learning, feature engineering, and open source development.
