Master's in Integrated Marketing Communications
Laura Ferry is an educator, social impact executive, marketer, and entrepreneur. She is currently the Director of ESG Initiatives, at the Business for Impact Center McDonough School of Business, and an Adjunct Professor at the School of Continuing Studies, Integrated Marketing & Communications, and Design Management & Communications master's programs where she received the 2022 Tropaia Award for Outstanding Faculty.
Laura is also the founder of Good Company, an ESG consultancy, widely known for its corporate impact strategies, public-private partnerships, programs and platforms for global brands, media, nonprofits, corporations and education entities.
Laura has led initiatives for major media companies including NPR, PBS, Scholastic, Channel One Network, and Discovery Communications where she developed and implemented strategies and programs in e-Mentoring, STEM education, digital and financial literacy, environmental education, play, and health. Examples of this work include partner modeling strategy and program design for Partnership for a Healthier America, the sister organization to First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative, KaBOOM!, and Ashoka’s “Start Empathy” campaign among others.
As a leader in corporate alliances, Laura has established best-in-class partnerships for DEC, Hewlett Packard, Western Digital, FINRA, International Paper, Highlights, Whole Foods, PetSmart, Toys ‘R Us, and Target. She has earned a reputation for strategic vision and leadership for her work in licensing and retail development for hit television shows and networks such as Monster Garage, Trading Spaces, Miami Ink, Animal Planet, and Discovery Kids.
In addition to leading Good Company, Laura co-founded and served as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of ed-tech company, Workbench Platform – a STE(A)M project-based learning platform for K-12 students (acquired by Google for Education in 2018). As CMO for the company, Laura led brand, marketing, communications, partnership development, and digital strategy.
Prior to these roles, Laura began her career at National Public Radio (NPR) in the Engineering and IT department where she established some of its first technology partnerships in new media for public broadcasting. She later took on roles with Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), Hewlett Packard, PBS, and Discovery Communications leading strategic alliances in technology, and brand licensing for television media and education properties.
Laura holds an M.A. from Georgetown University in Communications, Culture and Technology and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in English and Communications from Trinity University in Washington D.C.
Laura is certified in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by Rutgers Business School, Institute for Ethical Leadership. She is also certified by Mindful Schools as a K-12 mindfulness instructor. Laura and her family reside in Annapolis, Maryland.
