Jonathan Kaplan

Jonathan Kaplan is Adjunct Lecturer in the Masters program in Higher Education Administration at Georgetown University's School of Continuing Studies. Jonathan has served in a variety of leadership positions in higher education, business, and the public sector. He is currently managing partner of Inspara Partners, an advisory and investment firm focused on education and workforce development. Prior to that, Jonathan served as President & CEO of Walden University, one of the largest online graduate schools in the world, and CEO of the Online division at Laureate Education, a leading global higher education company. Jonathan was responsible for the division’s strategic, operational, educational and financial performance and direction, as well as for advancing innovative learning models such as competency-based education.


Jonathan has served on a number of boards, including as an observer on the board of directors for Coursera, an education technology company offering massive open online courses (MOOCs) around the world. He also served on the board of the Presidents’ Forum, an organization of presidents of accredited institutions focused on advancing excellence and innovation in online education. Jonathan was appointed in 2013 by a bipartisan group of U.S. senators to serve on a Congressional task force conducting a comprehensive review of federal higher education regulations and laws.


Jonathan graduated cum laude from Harvard College with a BA in government. He received his J.D. from Boston University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Boston University Law Review. He resides in Bethesda, Maryland, with his family.
