Michael Biesecker

Michael Biesecker is a global investigative reporter for The Associated Press. He reports on a wide range of topics, including human conflict, climate change, political corruption and deaths in government custody. Biesecker’s work tracking potential war crimes in Ukraine was recognized with the 2022 Gold Medal from Investigative Reporters and Editors, the organization’s top award. He was a contributor to the AP team that won the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service, as well as the top award for investigative reporting from the Overseas Press Club of America. A pair of documentaries he helped report and produce about Russian atrocities in Ukraine with PBS Frontline were nominated for four Emmy awards. Biesecker also teaches graduate courses in investigative journalism and environmental reporting at Georgetown University.
