Mr. Vincent Sritapan brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role as adjunct instructor in Georgetown University’s Master’s in Cyber Risk Management program, where he teaches a class focused on mobile device and application security strategy. For this course, Mr. Sritapan applies knowledge and insights culled from over a decade of his intertwined government civilian and military experiences to develop the syllabus and daily lesson plans for the course.

Currently, Mr. Sritapan is a Section Chief in the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Cybersecurity Shared Services Office (Cyber CSSO). As the head of the Service Innovation Section, Mr. Sritapan is leading the development and delivery of mobile security services and cloud security capabilities to help protect government enterprise networks. Sritapan also is the lead for CISA’s 5G research and development (R&D) activities in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) in support of CISA’s 5G Strategy. In addition, he was Co-Chair of the Federal CIO Council’s Federal Mobility Group, a cross-agency forum that helps drive strategy development in mobility and sharing information across federal agencies, and Co-Chair of the Committee for National Security Systems’ Mobile and Wireless Security Working Group.

Previously, Mr. Sritapan led DHS S&T’s Mobile Security R&D program. During his six-year stewardship of this innovation program, he annually managed seven to 15 mobile security R&D projects, resulting in 10 transitions and commercializations and more than 20 publications (e.g., co-author with the National Institute Standards and Technology’s mobile-related special publications [e.g., SPs 800-124 and 163]). Most notably, while leading this cutting-edge R&D program, Mr. Sritapan led a cross-government team of mobile experts to develop the department’s seminal congressional report titled the DHS Study on Mobile Device Security, which outlined present and emerging threats to the federal government’s use of mobile devices and recommended security improvements to the mobile device ecosystem.

Mr. Sritapan also is a Lieutenant (LT) in the U.S. Navy Reserves, serving as an Information Professional Officer as a part of the Information Warfare Community. He served as Acting Executive Officer and Operation Officer for Navy Reserve Information Warfare East and the Deputy Mission Manager for Tiered Cyber Support and Mission Lead for Technical Authority in the NAVWAR Reserve Program. Prior to NAVWAR Reserve Program, LT Sritapan served as N6 Acting Department Head and Command Information Assurance Manager at Navy Reserve Command 10th Fleet/U.S. Cyber Command.

Mr. Sritapan is a recognized mobile device and application security expert—both within and outside the mobile security community. He is often sought out by print, web, television and radio reporters for his expert insights and comments on matters related to mobile-security, has been published numerous times in various information security-related journals and publications and was the invited keynote speaker for several mobile-security events.

Mr. Sritapan earned his Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from California State University, Northridge, and his Master’s Degree in National Security Studies and his Master’s in Business Administration in Information Assurance and Security Management from California State University, San Bernardino. He is an alumnus of the National Science Foundation CyberCorps Scholarship for Service and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence’s Intelligence Community Scholar programs.
