Graduate Liberal Studies—Virtual Sample Class

21 OCT 12 – 1PM ET

We invite you to participate in a virtual sample class for the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies and Doctor of Liberal Studies degree programs. You’ll have the opportunity to get an inside look at each program by exploring an in-depth topic.

Class name: The Human Condition
Instructors: Mark Gray
Description: What makes us human? We explore human origins and our long-forgotten history in which Homo sapiens developed the first languages, religions, and cultural norms as we explored the world as hunter-gatherers. The challenges early humans faced formed the basis on which the first civilizations were created after the Agricultural Revolution. We will ask many "what if?" questions about what followed and what still exists in our societies, polities, and economies today. This module ends with an exploration of some of the methods social scientists use to study language and culture now.
