Sarita Bhargava

Sarita Bhargava serves as the Vice President of Engagement at the Freedom Forum, raising awareness of First Amendment freedoms through education, advocacy and action. Sarita has overseen and instituted the brand vision, positioning and communications strategy across the disciplines of marketing, digital, social, publicity, advertising and partnerships for many organizations both for profit, nonprofit, domestic and multi-national.


Prior to joining the Freedom Forum, she led Integrated Marketing at National 4-H Council. Her nonprofit experience includes Digital Promise and The Nature Conservancy where she led worldwide brand strategy for the organization. In this capacity, she led brand architecture, governance, identity and messaging, as well as celebrity sponsorships. For these efforts, The Nature Conservancy was recognized as the environmental non-profit of the year by Harris Poll Equitrend in both 2013 and 2014. At PBS, she worked as the Director of Brand Marketing and Promotion for PBS KIDS where she launched a long-running interstitial campaign featuring musicians, hosts and mascots. She also led award-winning launch campaigns for some of the most popular children's programming. Sarita has also held marketing positions at Accenture and The Walt Disney Company helping both organizations extend their brands into new divisions and categories. While living in The Netherlands, she worked at Mattel Toys in Northern Europe where she managed several brands, including Disney, Fisher-Price, Scrabble and UNO. She launched Hot Wheels and Harry Potter toys in Northern Europe which resulted in delivering the best European Sales Growth from Mattel Worldwide. She began her career in advertising at the award-winning Arnold Advertising where she supported the New England region’s McDonald’s business. She continued to retain McDonald’s as client at Burrell Advertising, one of the pre-eminent leaders in African-American advertising. At Dailey & Associates, Sarita handled pieces of the Nestlé business, including Libby’s Pumpkin and Carnation Instant Breakfast. As an account executive at Ogilvy & Mather, Los Angeles, she managed several accounts, including Korean Airlines, Mattel Toys, IBM, and Microsoft.


Sarita has been an adjunct lecturer since 2016 and has received the Tropaia award from Georgetown University. She received her master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern, with a double major in Economics and Communication Studies.
