Kathryn Burgess

Ms. Burgess has been with J Street Companies for 14 years, starting as a Property Manager, and rising through the ranks to the executive level.

As Vice President, Ms. Burgess provides leadership in all facets of J Street’s business lines, from strategic financial direction for the Property Management Division, to project management and oversight for J Street’s portfolio of under development assets. Additionally, she works with the leasing & accounting teams, consulting on lease deals, market trends, budgeting, and financial benchmarks.


In 2019 Ms. Burgess began teaching Introduction to Real Estate Finance (RDEV 450) at University of Maryland (UMD), a core course required to graduate with a minor in Real Estate Development. Additionally she has served a Capstone Judge for the UMD Master of Real Estate Development program, and as a Capstone Adviser for Georgetown's Master of Professional Studies in Real Estate.


Ms. Burgess has a Master of Real Estate Degree (MPRE) from Georgetown University ('18) and a BA in Journalism from Washington Adventist University ('02). She also holds a Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation through BOMI, the educational arm of The Apartment and Office Building Association (AOBA)


Ms. Burgess is a member AOBA and Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW DC). She currently serves on the Community Outreach Committee for AOBA, and in the past served on the Communications Committee for CREW DC.


Ms. Burgess lives with her husband in Alexandria, VA, and has two sons (22 & 19), and 4 dogs. She is a NFL football fan (Baltimore Ravens by choice, and The Washington Football Team by marriage).
